As of April 15, Vietnam’s export turnover of industrial products has reached more than 15 billion USD. Among them, there are six products worth billions of USD.
According to newly updated preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, as of April 15, Vietnam’s export value of goods reached 107.8 billion USD, an increase of 16.4% over the same period last year (92.8 billion USD).
Among them, there are 18 export items with a turnover of billions of USD, accounting for 84% of the total export value of goods in the economy.
Notably, there are three products that have reached a value of 10 billion USD or more: computers, electronic products, and components with 18.8 billion USD, an increase of 34% over the same period last year; phones and components with 16.1 billion USD, up 5.6%; and other machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts with 12.6 billion USD, an increase of 10%.
According to statistics compiled from customs data, accumulated as of April 15, the country’s total export turnover of agricultural products has reached a value of nearly 15.1 billion USD, an increase of more than 2.2 billion USD compared to the previous year. The value is recorded by the General Department of Customs until the end of the first quarter of 2024.
Regarding the agricultural, forestry, and aquatic product export group alone, by mid-April, Vietnam’s export value for this group had reached over 10.6 billion USD, an increase of more than 20% over the same period last year. Of these, there are 4 products with a turnover of 1 billion USD or more, including seafood reaching 2.32 billion USD, up 6.2% over the same period last year; coffee reached 2.23 billion USD, up 56%; rice reached 1.74 billion USD, up 39%; and fruit and vegetable products reached 1.55 billion USD, an increase of 32%.
Previously, according to a report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first quarter of 2024, the total export turnover of agriculture, forestry, and fishery products nationwide was estimated at 13.53 billion USD, an increase of 21.8% over the same period last year. . Of which, exported agricultural products reached 7.46 billion USD, an increase of 31.1%; the forest products group reached 3.61 billion USD, up 18.8%; seafood reached 1.86 billion USD, up 1.9%; and livestock reached 113 million USD, an increase of 4.8%.
The goal in the second quarter of 2024 is for the whole industry to achieve 3.37% value-added growth and strive for a total export turnover of agriculture, forestry, and fishery products of 14–14.5 billion USD.
In order for agriculture to continue to grow and achieve its set goals, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has directed that in April and the following months, localities need to closely monitor the world situation, climate change, and saltwater intrusion in water. Because the supply of goods in April and the second quarter of 2024 has many products in harvest season, there needs to be a consumer market.
Accordingly, localities need to develop specific production plans, especially plans to convert crop structure on rice land; develop domestic consumption and export markets; Monitor and understand the price situation and supply of food and essential food products; Promote the processing and consumption of agricultural products during the harvest season.
According to the latest published data of the General Department of Customs, accumulated from the beginning of the year to April 15, 2024, Vietnam’s total import-export turnover of goods has reached 208.9 billion USD, an increase of 16.2% compared to the previous year. and the same period last year. Of which, exports reached more than 107.8 billion USD and imports reached 101.1 billion USD. With the above results, Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of 6.7 billion USD.
