In the first six months, Japan imported over 1 million ton of shrimp, valued US $ 6.9 billion, decreased 3.6% in volume and 2.1% in value when compared with the same period of last year. Fish fillet and frozen whole fish importing still rose above 2 figures, while others importing all decreased. China is the largest supplier, accounted for 18% in market share. Vietnam is the sixth supplier, with 6.2% in market share. While importing from China, Thailand and some of other Asia countries all decreased, importing from Vietnam keeps going up.
