The province’s total shrimp farming area is estimated at around 137,000 hectares. Authorities are steering development toward sustainability, with proactive seasonal planning and increased application of science and technology to reduce risks and adapt to climate change.
To improve efficiency, the province encourages a shift from traditional farming to advanced models such as multi-stage farming and the use of larger post-larvae for stocking. It is also promoting nursery and pre-growing systems before commercial farming to enhance survival rates and reduce disease risks. Technical training, environmental monitoring, and early warning systems continue to be strengthened.
In addition, An Giang is tightening the management of seed quality, controlling imported broodstock and post-larvae, and advising farmers to use certified seed. The issuance of farming area codes for traceability is being accelerated, alongside effective management of irrigation systems to support safe and sustainable production.
