Đồng Tháp plans to have 100% of pangasius farming facilities granted identification numbers and 100% of commercial pangasius farming facilities granted certificates of good manufacturing practice or signed commitments of food safety production by 2025. The plan involves 50% of commercial pangasius farming areas to be applied and granted GAP standard and 90% of households related to pangasius production participating into a value chain.
The province tries to have 75% of pangasius breeds subject to commercial production evaluated to be high quality and 60% of fingerling production facilities use genetically improved fish. Pangasius farming environment will be strictly supervised so as to have 60% of the area installed with wastewater treatment systems as regulated and 100% of water resources from main rivers frequently surveyed as regulated.
According to the Đồng Tháp provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province use over 2,000 ha of land for pangasius farming, accounting for more than 33% of the total area of the province and nearly 35% of the region, providing the region with about 60% of the pangasius breeds output. The province has 76 breeding facilities and 1,104 nursery facilities (about 950 ha). The province provides about 20 billion fingerlings and 1.3 billion of pangasius juveniles, enough for local commercial production and providing auxiliary provinces. Businesses in Đồng Tháp have exported pangasius to 134 countries all over the world.

Deputy Director of the Đồng Tháp provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development Huỳnh Tất Đạt has been restructuring the pangasius sector, especially water environment control, digital transformation in management and operation of the pangasius sector.
