Vietnam’s crab exports surged in the first half of 2025, hitting their highest value in a decade at more than USD 173 million, up 38% year-on-year. However, growth has been uneven, with strong gains in some segments offset by declines in others.
Shipments of crab products continued to rise steadily through Q2, while exports of swimming crabs and salted crabs fell sharply in the final month of the quarter. Overall, crab and salted crab exports in the first six months remained higher than a year earlier, but swimming crab exports declined.
Vietnam shipped crab, swimming crab and other crustaceans to 25 markets during the period. Most major destinations posted solid gains in Q2. In the top market of China and Hong Kong, growth slowed after a strong Q1.
Within the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) bloc, imports from some members such as Canada and the UK declined, while exports to Australia rebounded sharply, jumping 58% in Q2.
Sales to the EU also eased compared with Q1 but remained elevated, up 71% from Q2 2024.
