In the first eight months of 2021, the total value of Vietnamese pangasius exports to the Middle East market increased by 25.18% over the same period last year. In 2021, many pangasius enterprises have shifted their exports to the Egyptian and UAE markets.
The Middle East has been a potential market for Vietnamese pangasius over the past time. However, the development of exports to this market has many ups and downs. Last year, pangasius exports to Saudi Arabia were suspended (after 2 years), but in the first 8 months of this year, the export value to this market increased again. Currently, Saudi Arabia is the third largest pangasius export market of Vietnamese seafood enterprises in the Middle East with a total export value of 6.92 million USD.
By the end of August 2021, the total export value of pangasius to the Middle East market reached 56.32 million USD. In which, Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia are the three largest markets of Vietnamese pangasius enterprises. In which, the total export value to Egypt and the UAE accounted for more than 63% of the total export value of pangasius to this region.
In the first 8 months of 2021, pangasius export value to Egypt reached 18.7 million USD, to the UAE reached 17.1 million USD, up 87.5% and 7.8% respectively over the same period last year.
In 2021, there are more than 20 Vietnamese enterprises exporting to the Egyptian market and more than 15 Vietnamese seafood enterprises actively exporting pangasius to the UAE.
