Vietnam’s seafood industry aims at a 2024 export value of 9.5 billion USD, a slight increase of 3% compared to last year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Seafood exports in the first half of this year are forecast to recover slightly compared to last year’s low base, the Association said.
Given global economic difficulties and high interest rates, consumers will not be really strong in their spending decisions, and global seafood consumption demand will hardly increase sharply, according to VASEP.
It urged businesses to make efforts to expand markets as Vietnam’s seafood exports to the United States, the European Union (EU), and South Korea are likely to recover in the first months of this year.
