According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) plans to implement a project to ease difficulties of tuna sector and boost tuna production and exports.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) plans to implement a project to ease difficulties of tuna sector and boost tuna production and exports. Through the project, Khanh Hoa province will become a major tuna trading center of the country.
The center is expected to comprise fishing port, fish market, auction platform, cold storage serving for tuna trading.
According to the project, by 2020, about VND5,770 billion from the state budget will be invested in upgrading current vessels and building new fishing vessels, establishing a tuna trading center in Khanh Hoa, developing logistic service activities at fishing ports to ensure the product quality and reduce post-harvest loss. Of total investment fund, VND2,700 billion will be spent on upgrading 2,600 current boats, building 1,000 new fishing boats and service boats. In particular, Khanh Hoa will build 260 new vessels and upgrade 365 current vessels.
